Eldritch Knight

Has anybody played with this tree at all? Curious about opinions and ideas with it.

Before my PnP group dissolved years ago, the next character I was working on was a Paladin/Sorcerer/Spellsword/Eldritch Knight. So, I got excited by this new prestige enhancement that kind of combines EK and Spellsword. Of course DDO is not exactly PnP, as we all know, but I still may give this enhancement a try. But, maybe the original idea is not the best way to implement it in DDO.

So, I have a few choices so far:

18 Sorc/2 Pal: Classic combo for super-saves. Plays well with the EK. Lay on hands never hurts.
16 Sorc/2 Pal/2 Mnk: Evasion + Feats!
16 Sorc/2 Pal/2 Ftr: Screw Evasion; I just want feats!

Or, we could go Wizard. Of course then Paladin doesn't synergize, but maybe that's ok. It might be neat to mix in PaleMaster for some self-healing fun. Maybe a point into ArchMage for low cost Magic Missile, since Force Power is boosted by EK.

18 Wiz/2 Mnk: Evasion + Feats
17 Wiz/2 Mnk/1 Ftr: Extra Feat?
20 Wiz: Is pure worth it in this case?

I actually already rolled one of these as an Iconic just to play test. I will probably delete him and re-roll some other combos just to see which one I like best. And I wanted to see if anybody else had started playing with this new toy!

I went Iconic, PDK. My build was Sorc 12/Arti 6/Fighter 2, with the Cha to damage and to hit enhancement.

Yes. One lesson I learned in this exercise, is you must choose whether you want to be melee-focused or spell-focused. Both are great I'm sure. I went melee-focused just to play with the EK special attacks. You should post your spell-focused build to compare.

I was away for awhile so didn't know/forgot about that PDK enhancement. Very interesting.

Did you take Arti for Runearms + bastard sword? To 6 for Battle Engineer?

I took it for the buffs, the 10% arcane spell reduction so i can wear full plate, and the construct essence feat so i can heal myself with reconstruct.
